Should we not fire God? Heard this on a very inspiring clip I found. As a wise man once said, considering the increasing number of murder, rape and pedophilia – I think it would be more than reasonable to fire God.
However, at the end of the day this depends on how you perceive God. I mean, what is God’s job?
Do you see him as a Divine Babysitter or a Loving Father?
Let’s go with Divine Babysitter. If you see Him as this then His job is to keep us safe and sound, free from any worry and pain. But with the world we live in; no. He is not doing His job. Then by all means, fire Him.
But what if His job is different? To be a loving father? Too cliché for you? His job is to be a loving father who wants us to grow up into people who come to know, love and trust in Him. Any parent knows that bringing up kids involves letting them make mistakes, taking risks to allow them to learn and grow – and of course this involves some pain along the way.
I don’t even think you know how much Jesus loves you and that He died for you. But do you know how much you really suck as a person? Can you imagine God said ‘oh never mind, she’s a bit much’ or ‘he’s a bit much’?
He sees everything, even the things in yourself that you can’t see, the darkest parts of you that you won’t admit to yourself. When you feel lost or hurt, God knows how you feel and to see you hurt, hurts Him.
Not many of us have faith anymore and I can understand that considering the fast-paced world we live in, but it takes just a little faith to move mountains. When He allows hard things into your life, I believe He will use them to allow you to grow.
God does not want to keep us wrapped in cotton wool, He wants us to grow up.
One of the reasons why I am okay walking this path and enduring the pain is because with God, I am never truly alone. He removes certain people out of your life because only He knows that you are outgrowing them. For it is by Grace that you have been saved through faith 🙂
Sex, drugs, money, alcohol and success will never satisfy you to be honest. I think it is better to know God before meeting Him.
So, just a bit of a science lesson for those of you who want to stick to evidence and facts.
I know, I know…but Aimee, where did God come from?
Your question immediately assumes you are thinking of the wrong God. God from the Bible is not affected by time, space and matter. Because if He were affected by time, space and matter then He is NOT God.
Time, space and matter is what we call a continuam. They have come into existence at the same instant. Because if there were MATTER but NO SPACE then, WHERE would you put it?
If there were MATTER AND SPACE but NO TIME, then WHEN would you put it?
You cannot have time, space and matter independently – they have to come into existence simultaneously.
The Bible answers that question, ‘Where did God come from?’ in 9 words. The very first verse of the Bible says:
Genesis 1:1 ‘In the beginning (time) God created the Heaven (space) and earth (matter).
So now you have the Trinity of Trinity’s
TIME: present, past and future
SPACE: length, width and height
and MATTER: solid, liquid and gas
All created instantaneously and the God who created them has to be OUTSIDE of them. The guy who created your tv is not inside the tv running around in there changing what is on your screen.
So God who created the universe is OUTSIDE of the universe, He is above it, beyond it and through it. He is unaffected by it. So the concept of a spiritual force cannot have an effect on a material body.
Because then you have to explain to me things like emotions (love, hatred, envy etc)
I mean, if your brain is just a random collection of chemicals formed by chance of a billion of years, how on earth can you trust your own reasonings and your own though process? So your question ‘Where did God come from?’ is assuming a limited God, and that’s the problem.
He is not limited by time, space and matter.
If I could fit the infinite God in my three pound brain, He would not be worth worshipping, that’s for sure. So should we really fire Him?
In retrospect, I wouldn’t because He allows me to grow daily and the Bible says where there is no growth, He is not present.

Genesis 1:3
